Essex

Local, and staying that way

The quiet cost of not having a website

Nobody rings to tell you they chose someone else. It just happens.

01

They can’t check you out

Customers who find you on Google Maps still want to see your work before they ring. With nothing to look at, the safe choice is the business that has a site.

02

You look newer than you are

Twenty years of work and no website can read as less established than a competitor who started last year. The quality of the work isn’t the problem. The evidence is.

03

The enquiry goes elsewhere

Most people don’t call two businesses. They call the one that answered their questions first.

Built around your business, not a template

Your website should look like your work, not like every other site in your trade. That means your own photos, your own reviews, and your services described the way you’d describe them on the phone.

Your photos, not stock images

Real jobs you’ve done, so the site looks like your work rather than someone else’s.

Your reviews, in full

The ones customers already left, put where new customers will actually see them.

Works properly on a phone

Which is where most people will open it, usually while standing in the room they want fixing.

Easy to find

Set up so Google understands who you are, what you do and the towns you cover.

Concept builds

Three trades, three completely different sites

These are concepts, not clients. I built them so you can see the range before you decide, rather than taking my word for it. Every one is a real, working site you can open and scroll.

Real client work will replace these as sites go live. Nothing here is borrowed and no invented business is presented as a customer. If you got an email from me, the site I built for you is already built and waiting at a private link, and that link is in the message.

What’s available

Everyone starts with the same thing: a website. The rest gets added when you actually want it, not bundled in to pad the price.

Nothing is paid until the site is built, changed to suit you, and you have said yes. There is no deposit to lose.

Website design

From £499
fixed before we start

A complete site built from scratch around your business. Design, build, and getting it live on your own domain.

Website redesign

Already have a site that’s dated, slow, or doesn’t work on phones? Same process, built around what you’ve already got. Anything worth keeping comes with it.

Add on when you need it

Local SEO

Set up so you show up when someone searches for your trade in your town, and so Google knows exactly what you do and where you do it.

Edit it yourself

A simple password-protected editor where you change your own text, prices, opening hours and photos, from your phone.

Online booking

Customers book a slot or an appointment themselves, with confirmation emails and a reminder the day before.

Live Google rating

Your star rating and review count pulled straight from your Google listing, so it updates itself as new reviews land.

Hosting and care

Your site stays online, backed up and looked after, with up to half an hour of small changes each month. Text, photos, prices, opening hours.

The part worth checking

Yours to keep, not rented

Most website offers aimed at trades are monthly. That can work out fine, but it is worth knowing what you are buying: on a lot of them the website is switched off when you stop paying, and the years of reviews and photos on it go with it.

Yours is bought once and belongs to you, on your own domain. If you never speak to me again it carries on working. Hosting and care is there if you want it, and the site stays yours whether you take it or not.

Rented

£45 to £99

a month, typical trade offer

  • Roughly £540 to £1,188 in year one
  • The same again every year after
  • Often offline if you stop paying
Owned

From £499

once, fixed before I start

  • £499 in year one
  • Nothing in year two, or ever
  • Stays online because it is yours

Monthly figures are the published prices of well known UK trade website services, checked September 2026.

How it works

Six steps, and you are only really needed for two of them.

  1. STEP 01

    Discover

A short conversation about what you do, who you work for, and what you want the site to bring in. No jargon, no forms to fill in.

  2. STEP 02

    Plan

Deciding what the site needs to say and in what order, so it answers the questions your customers actually ask.

  3. STEP 03

    Design

Built around your photos, your reviews and your trade. You see it as a real working website, not a slide deck.

  4. STEP 04

    Refine

You tell me what’s wrong. Wording, photos, order, colours. This is the part most people are never offered.

  5. STEP 05

    Launch

Live on your own domain, working on every device, set up to be found.

  6. STEP 06

    Support

It stays looked after. Small changes are included in the care plan, and anything bigger gets quoted before it starts.

Why Donrod Digital

Why people say yes

01

You see it before you decide

The site is built before you’re asked for anything. If you don’t want it, that’s genuinely fine.

02

One price, no surprises

You get the number before I start anything, and it doesn’t move. No package tiers, no renewal that quietly doubles, nothing added at the end.

03

You own it

The site is yours, on your domain. You’re not renting it, and you can take it elsewhere whenever you like.

04

Local

Essex based and working across the county. Same customers, same high streets, same weather.

05

You deal with the person who builds it

No account manager, no ticket system, no handover to somebody you’ve never spoken to.

You’re dealing with one person, start to finish. The one who designs it, builds it, and answers the email when something needs changing.

GREG, DONROD DIGITAL

Who you’d be working with

I’m Greg.

I build websites for service businesses across Essex.

Most small businesses get the same two options: an agency that costs thousands and takes months, or a cheap template that looks like a cheap template. I wanted to offer a third one. A properly built site, at a price a local business can justify, from someone you can actually get hold of.

More about how I work

Questions people ask

If yours isn’t here, email me and I’ll answer it properly.

How much does a website cost?

Builds start at £499, which covers the design, the build, and getting it live on your own domain. You get the exact figure before any work starts, and it doesn’t change afterwards.

Is there anything ongoing to pay?

Not for the build. Hosting and care, and extras like an editor, online booking or a live Google rating, are optional and quoted separately. If you don’t want any of them, you don’t pay for any of them.

How long does it take?

The first version is usually ready within a few days. After that it depends how quickly you come back with changes. Most sites are live within a couple of weeks.

Will I own the website?

Yes. It’s yours, on your own domain. If you ever want to move it elsewhere or have someone else work on it, you can.

Can you redesign my existing site?

Yes. If what you’ve got is dated, slow, or doesn’t work properly on a phone, the process is the same. Anything worth keeping gets carried over.

Do you provide support?

Yes. Hosting and care covers up to half an hour of small changes a month, so text, photos, prices, opening hours, that sort of thing. You email and it gets done, with no ticket system and no support portal. Anything larger than that gets a price before it starts, so nothing turns up as a surprise. And if you’d rather not wait on me at all, the built-in editor lets you make those changes yourself in a couple of minutes.

Can I update it myself?

If you want to. There’s an option that adds a simple editor where you can change your text, prices, opening hours and photos yourself, from your phone. Plenty of people would rather just email me, and that’s fine too.

When do I pay?

Once you’ve seen it, asked your questions, had the changes made and decided you want it. Not before. By that point you know exactly what you’re buying, and the only thing left to do is put it on your domain.

Why not just use Wix or Squarespace?

You can, and for some businesses they’re a perfectly good option. They hand you the tools. Most people who come to me don’t want to spend their evenings learning a platform, laying out pages and writing their own copy, and would rather have it built properly by someone they can email when something needs changing.

Why did you contact me?

Because I’d already built your website. I look for local businesses whose website is missing, broken, or just a booking page on somebody else’s platform, build them a proper one from their own photos and reviews, and send them the link. It seemed more useful than describing what’s possible. There’s no obligation at all. If it’s not for you, ignore the email and nothing happens.

What if I don’t want it?

That’s genuinely fine. The site was built on spec, the way an estate agent puts a brochure together before the seller has signed anything. It sits at an unlisted address only you and I know, and if you’d rather it didn’t exist, I take it down and that’s the end of it.

Have a look at what yours could be

Send a message and you’ll get a real reply from me, usually the same day. If you’d rather just see what your site would look like first, ask for a free review and I’ll put one together.
